Lantern Festival Reception, 5 to 7 PM 
Come early to a festive open-air reception. Enjoy elegant refreshments, have a calligrapher inscribe your shade, experience traditional Balinese dance, and take a trolley over to the Lake.  Support the festival and avoid the crowds; includes VIP parking. Admission: $40 for adults/$20 for children 16 and under.

May 28th and 31st 2006 - Give Balinese dance workshop at the Darmouth College NH. Together with the students of Jody Diamond, present part of the Ramayana story as part of the class final project.

List of Activities in 2005

March 3 2005- UNICEF-UNICHEFS Tsunami Victims Fundraising Event Bay Tower 33rd Floor, 60 State Street, Boston, MA.  The event collected $250,000.

March 10 - Song's Nothing Conservatory About It Concert Series Women Musicians Network Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA.

Presented a dance "Nuku Pari" (short version). Choreographed by Cynthia Laksawana, music composed by Dewa Alit, and gamelan played by Windy Setiadi, Aaron Wolesley, and Sean Manion. 

"Nuku Pari" protrayed the activity of harvesting rice.  The dance started by a female farmer walking happily in a beatiful morning toward the rice field to be harversted.  Arrived at the field, she saw some birds eating the seeds and she hurrily drove them away.  With joy, she cut the rice stems and tied them in bundels.


March 20 - Pagelaran Seni Indonesia: A Tsunami Victims Fundraising Event at Northeastern University Main Auditorium, Boston, MA.  Danced for Gamelan Galak Tika. 


March 26 - Annual International Folk Festival of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
Presented dance "Nuku Pari."  The long version of "Nuku Pari" was chareographed for this event.  The same dance as the short version, but then more movements were added to potray the process of separating the rice seeds from the stems by whamming the stems inside "lumbu" (long wodden carved to place the rice stems) with long wooden stick.


June - July - The 27th Annual Bali Art Festival in Bali Indonesia.
Together with Gamelan Galak Tika, spent 2 weeks in Bali Tour as part of the 27th Annual Bali Art Festival (Pekan Kesenian Bali yang ke-27).  Galak Tika performed in 4 Villages (Ubud, Negara, Singaraja, and Kuta) and in Art Center in Denpasar.  Together with her teahcer Desak Made Suarti Laksmi, Cynthia danced Semara Wisaya. 


July 19 - Brookline Community Center for the Arts (BCCA) (
http://www.bccaonline.com) Community Meeting at Devotion School in Brookline, MA.
Introduced the Balinese dance, Cynthia Laksawana performed the Tarunajaya.  She will also be teaching Balinese dance at the BCCA.

August 27 - Muticultural Extravaganza Fundraising Night by Sunday Project in Providence Rhode Island.  Sunday Project is an organization dedicated to the support of Liberians with war related trauma and disabilities (http://www.sundayproject.org).  Cynthia Laksawana presented Tarunajaya dance and Joshua Utomo presented the Javanese Shadow Puppet.

September 10 - Evening of learning the Indonesian Culture in Lasell Village - Lasell Collge the unique living and learning retirement home (http://www.lasellvillage.com).
The event was opened by Panyembrama dance by Cynthia Laksawana.  Continued with 20 minutes Javanese puppet show by Joshua Utomo and closed by the presentation of Taruna Jaya dance by Cynthia Laksawana.  Q&A session followed after the performances.

 
 
Together with MIT Natya and Thai students at MIT, Sanggar Kinanthi produced the epic story of Ramayana.  The Ramayana was peformed at Small Kresge at MIT campus, Cambridge, MA.  All off the proceeds were donated to the Unicef to help the victims of the Tsunami.
 
This join event has won the 1st place of Cultural Event at MIT for the year 2004.
